Hi everyone! My name is Duyên i was born in small village in Hải Dương province. I learned the cuisine of Northern Vietnam from an early age watching and assisting my mother and my eldest sister as i prepared the family meals, before heading to Hanoi to attend culinary college.
I was a founding staff member at the Hanoi Cooking Centre where I ran Vietnamese, International and Children’s cooking classes and street food tours from 2009 to 2017 and i happened to appear in Gordon Ramsey’s Asian Adventures and Vietnam Iron Chef 2014 .
When I was running cooking classes and doing the street food tour in Hanoi Cooking Center, the customers usually ask me how local people live and cook at home? where does the food come from? why do they see people eating out side the street and dont they cook at home? People selling earn a lot but I have not seen how the work? All of these questions from the customers must have been misunderstood the real local activities and that inspired me to open my own business teaching cooking classes .
Food is everything we are. It's an extension of our culture, our personal history, our tribe, it brings people closer through the food.
